What do you think of the insurance companies?
I just read on Yahoo that at least three insurers have canceled or refused to renew policies after homeowners sought their help to replace the Chinese drywall that emits sulfuric fumes and corrodes pipes.
Aren’t the insurance companies (I mean all kinds of them- Health insurance , home insurance, auto insurance) thieves?
I have health insurance, but their terms are so confusing. Although I pay a lot for premiums, I keep getting so many bills for the things that are not covered. Although I have asked my insurance company, they try very hard to keep everything confusing.
I am so mad at these insurance companies. They are blood suckers and evil. Do you agree with me?
Randal Graves:
They already had coverage with the insurers, but not only they would not pay for the repairs, but they canceled their policies. They were paying monthly premiums. It is not fair. They are thieves.
I think all the republicans are in love with the insurance companies!!

Evil bloodsuckers, I concur.

actually the company selling the dry wall is responsible for it not the insurance company….why would an insurance company pay for bad drywall……..sue the installer…….

Too Greedy, Too Useless, and it ain’t there even the Emergency Room, it needs true Reform

Here is a good one, read the policy before you sign it. If you can’t understand it ask someone who does for help. If the homeowners had made a good informed personal decision they would not be in a pickle. It’s called personal responsibility.

I’m grateful for insurance companies. If it weren’t for them, the govt. would be deciding what treatment I get or not.

They are the Halliburtons of Healthcare.

No, I don’t agree with you. At least not entirely.
Every corporation is out to make a profit, so yes, they are inherently greedy, corrupt and evil. But competition helps to make it fair. If a company’s policy is horrible, customers will seek different companies (or at least they should be able to… if the government does anything, it should allow for companies to compete for customers across state lines).
If the government forces insurance companies to accept all sick people, then sick people will show up and sign up for it. This will raise the rates. If the government doesn’t let them do that either, then they will go out of business. If they are able to raise rates, then young people (who have low health care needs on average, and who usually are least able to afford the insurance) will not purchase it. This loss of revenue forces premiums higher.
So yes, corporations are evil and horrible and only care about profit, but that does not mean that the government should handcuff them into setting prices for insurance plans that will force them out of business.

I work in Insurance and I wouldn’t call them blood suckers. I would just call them capitalist. I haven’t read about the insurers and the hope owners with the chinese dry wall. I don’t quite what you mean by canceled policies, if your home is insured from the beginning with the knowledge in place and the company still refuses coverage you can take them to court. however to refuse coverage on a home that is going to cost you money is simply a smart business move.
would you invest in something that is going to break or cause someone to be sick at anytime? i doubt it. so why should insurance be forced to pay for it?

No I do not agree, insurance is for something terrible happening that is outside of normal life events (accidents, catastrophes) it is not meant as a buffer against everyday occurrences or costs.
Health insurance should be for catastrophic cases, not for common expenses. And the home builder or drywall supplier is responsible for that, not the insurance company.

They seek only profits.
People are collateral damage.

They should be run out of town, they are useless, they pay nothing.

They are refusing to insure any woman who has had a C-Section as they claim it is a preexisting condition!!!
But they don’t need reform because if the woman agrees to get sterilized they will ensure her.

Their not thieves.
You are choosing to give then your money.
Of course you may have more choices if they were subject to anti-trust laws. But what are going to do when the people at Washington are buddies with those people?

I bet your parents’ insurance paid on the day you were born. They also paid for fillings in your teeth (maybe braces), emergency visits such as broken bones, storm damage to houses, auto accidents… Yes very evil – you pay a little so when needed they pay a LOT! Next time read the policy and pay for necessary coverage.

yes i do!!! when i retired i now have to pay $415 for health care per person a month! be glad i am single or it would be $830 a couple? if i was laid off or fired or quit anything but retired the rates would be $1049 a person a month or $2098.00 a couple per month? when you are out of work even unemployment total of what you can get won’t pay for just even the health care insurance a month?? now they say the new health care will raise the rates? until nobody can afford it?? and then we get fined if we don’t get insurance we can’t afford??? how much MORE can obama squeeze out of us??? my company has paid out over $72,000 in the last 6 years and i have not seen a doctor in the last 6 years just a dentest 2 times a year or so? someone is making money somewhere???

In the Famed words of Al Bundy (Married with Children, you know?! That Al Bundy) “Insurance is like being married. You give, and you give, and you get nothing out of it!”
And the sad thing is that in the state that I reside in, that it is the law that in order to drive a car, you HAVE to have auto insurance.
I have to cough up $560.00 every six months on my PT Cruiser! For full coverage, that’s cheap for me! And so far, it has been decades since I have been in an accident that was my fault! I do try to be careful, especially now since money is tight! I can’t afford for my insurance to go up! On the road, I am a good boy these days! I cannot even afford to get tickets! With me, money is that tight!
I just read your red Vs blue, blue Vs red rant! Where I live at, we Had a Democrat Governor that signed it into law that we must have auto insurance! Point the finger where ever you want, either way you look, the insurance companies are making a killing!
Now riddle me this. . . If under a government run health care, who can we sue for medical negligence, and malpractice if we are misdiagnosed, or mistreatment should there be a result of permanent damage, or death. That’s is why I am against government run health care!
Now, before you go saying “that a government run health care will end all wrong lawsuits of malpractice!” Yes that is true, but what if you, or someone that you love was misdiagnosed, would you be able to sue the Doctor? Probably not if the doctor was assigned to treat you by the government! Would you be able to sue the government? Maybe, but if you could, it would take time for you if you were to get any compensation!
Now I do believe that it is time for tort reform now! Why? because we are a “lawsuit happy” nation! And good doctors have been wrongfully sued!
Now, Obama wants to pass laws that everyone here in the U.S. must have health insurance? What will stop the insurance companies from spiking their fees?! Here’s a hint; NOTHING will stop them! If Obama’s health care reform passes, guess what? ? ? I will be investing some money into Pharmaceuticals companies!
Yes! The insuance companies, for the most part, can be legalized muggers!
Also liberal/progressive politicians can be legalized muggers!
