Why do we keep buying imports from China if the products are dangerous?
Filed in Chinese Drywall Feedback on Apr.27, 2010
I had Chinese drywall which is a hazards product shipped into the U.S. from China. I just read that chinese drywall isn’t the first import from China that had some material in it that was a hazard to us. Their toys, shrimp drywall, what next!

The government will continue to allow china to dump their waste they put in their products in our country for as long as we owe china money.

Hi !
I guess not all the drywall products from China is dangerous, yeah?
i guess we could choose the products that they are not a hazard products.is that true?
Anyway, you could find the goods from China with good price and good quality!
The importer choosing the manufacturer is very important ,i guess. Have a nice day!

You are making an unreasonable and irrational generalization about Chinese products based upon one or two isolated incidents that happened years apart. Please be fair in your comments and logical in your thinking.
China produces the majority of the consumer products used around the world. Kitchen appliances, shoes, air conditioners, shirts, tooth brushes, hats, furniture, toys, tennis balls, and thousands of products primarily come from China. Walk into any store in Australia, India, Egypt, Spain, Argentina, Japan, or the United States and you will see a vast assortment of Chinese made products.
Virtually every multinational company in the world has manufacturing and/or service operations in China. These include Philips Electronics, General Motors, Siemens, Hyundai, and Kodak to name just a few. The world relies on China to provide good quality products at affordable prices.
Quality control is important to everyone. Consumers, retailers, manufacturers, and employees all have a huge stake in product quality. That is why quality issues are addressed promptly and thoroughly when they occur. A company that makes a poor quality product doesn’t stay in business for long. Just ask defunct American car maker Pontiac about the relationship between quality and success.
America and Europe no longer manufacture many products, except for advanced weapon systems, aircraft, and pharmaceuticals. We never hear about quality issues with American made consumer products because there is no such thing. America no longer manufactures consumer products on large scale. 50 years ago America made plenty of consumer goods, but those days are long gone.
Sorry about your drywall problem. As you probably know, there was a single large shipment of bad drywall that hit the southeastern USA in 2006 and caused a lot of problems. Talk with your homeowner’s insurance compnay and see if they can help you out.

what you don’t realise is that many products made in china are petrochemical based (oil) so everything from plastics to clothing are manufactured cheaper than they would be in the states.
and where do you think all those broken plastic toys and disposable items end up?
CHINA!!!
do you know that there are literally millions of tonnes of waste from America lying about in China? and every cell phone, computer, and other plastic based items are shipped back to China so you don’t have to store it in landfill in your own country. so in essence, your Chinese drywall is insignificant to the millions of tonnes of hazardous materials the US exports back to China

Because people did not know of such problems before.
Poor and dangerous workmanship on Chinese products is a cited reason why foreign bases firms in Chinese are pulling out and starting to return home.
