When will we stop importing Chinese products to the U.S ?
Thousands of U.S. homes tainted by Chinese drywall should be gutted, according to new guidelines released Friday by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. In the states of Florida, Virginia, Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana, have reported problems with the Chinese-made drywall, which was imported in large quantities during the housing boom and after a string of Gulf Coast hurricanes. The drywall has been linked to corrosion of wiring, air conditioning units, computers, doorknobs and jewelry, along with possible health effects. Some samples of the Chinese-made product emit 100 times as much hydrogen sulfide as drywall made elsewhere.
I’m not against cheaper products but toy products that maim and kill, products that cause extensive demage for homeowners ? We use to be a country that could boycott or not be forced to buy and use products we did not trust !

Good question – I think there’s a generic answer to much of our troubles regarding consumer goods – the agencies that were established to look out for consumers have been sold to the highest bidders. The FDA, EPA, CDC are also among those who are no longer looking out for us.
As an economy student in the 1980′s, I learned the damage of Wal-Mart and will continue to boycott them. But when we are not made aware of the origins of our construction materials, medications, etc., it completely takes choice away from the consumer and is lining the pockets of our politicians.
Just wait and see the class action law suits to come from this revelation that will benefit our fine lawyers!
