December 2 Deadline
Homeowners with tainted Chinese drywall should try to find out soon whether their wallboards were made by Knauf Plasterboard Tianjin Co.
The Chinese manufacturer has agreed to accept a class-action complaint for one month. Without this pact, homeowners who want to sue Knauf will have to spend plenty of time and money to serve the company, Boca Raton attorney Allison Grant said.
To participate in the class-action suit, homeowners must submit proof that they have Knauf drywall by Dec. 2.
“This is a good opportunity,” Grant said. “It means that Knauf is looking at their total exposure. One could interpret that to mean a settlement is quite possible.”
