Need to break lease.could we possibly get out of the full penalty?
I understand a lease is a lease, so no lectures I am looking for serious answers. Has anyone been able to get out of the penalties for breaking an apartment lease? Do some landlords give you a break?
We have been in our apartment for 5 months and signed for one year. Due to a family emergency we need to leave here within 2 months. Long story short…our father has abandoned our mother for another woman in a different country. He is NOT coming back. Also, our mom has to move out of her current home because she has developed multiple medical problems due to the fact that their home was build with Chinese drywall which is made out of sulfuric acid. We have to move to be with her in Florida.
According to our lease we must have a 60 day written notice and must present 2 months rent when moving. To be honest, this equals $1600 for us and we can afford to pay an extra months rent but honestly we cannot afford to pay 2 months extra rent. Do some landlords try to work with you in situations like this. This was totally unexpected.
Thanks

I suggest you to try project payday, simply because you don’t need any money up front and you can start making money within minutes. I average around 3,500 dollars every month with it. Check it out at

You can certainly try to negotiate for release. This is a case where you will get more with honey than vinegar. Leave the place spotless and ready to show.
Do not under any circumstances leave without settling this. It will haunt you for years.

The key is to simply negotiate.
And forget the wild story about Chinese wallboard unless you can 1) document that there is a significant amount in your place 2) you can prove yours is defective and 3) you can get the city to rule the placed uninhabitable.

The landlord is giving you a break now by only requiring you to pay for 60 days rent. They ARE working with you.
