Does anyone know why we are allowing chinese products into the country when they are toxic? we cut off trade?

You should put this towards the fine folks at Wal-Mart who import more from China than anyone in the US. Or you can simply think all the people who make it possible: American comsumers. Save money. Live Chinese. Or something like that.

This is certainly a legitimate concern and I’m sure both the US and China (where some people have been executed and others jailed for producing tainted products) are working on solutions. The problem with a total ban is that our imports from China are so huge – about $320 billion in 2007 – that the disruption versus the avoidance of what is likely a small percentage goods may not seem like a good trade off.

We are in debt up to our eyeballs to China. Why do you think we don’t make a stink about human rights and toxic goods from them???
